I did manage to get another scrap page done today. This one is of my grandson again trying at his strength on one of those "Test Your Muscles & Ring the Bell" things at the Canada Celebrations on the mainland. Apparently he rang the bell every time so he was quite pleased with himself, lol. Hope everyone has been having a great week so far, one more work day and then the weekend! TFL

Sunshine & smiles

Another gorgeous day today. I love the summer and all of the layouts you can do with summer photo's. This picture that my son took of my grandson is just so perfect for a summer layout. Scott always has a big smile on his face, I just love that about him. TFL!

Hot, hot, hot

Well it looks like summer finally arrived with a vengeance. It's been super nice for the past few weeks and this week the weather is getting hotter with no end in site at least for a week. I'm not going to complain though after all the crappy we had in May and June. My poor veggie garden is probably not going to recover. Very sad, I won't get my fresh tomatoes from my garden. :-(

We had a visitor on Saturday. A young 2 point buck decided to wander in for his lunch and spent some time munching on all the leaves. I managed to get about 10 feet away but he was half hidden by the trees. When I did manage to get in front of him he decided it was time to leave, so that picture didn't quite come out that clear. I decided that I'd scrapbook them for another entry into the color challenge at My Creative Scrapbook. Layout is below.

I also got a nice surprise in the mail today. Instead of getting just bills I got my prize goodies from Pam at My Creative Scrapbook for my Layout of the Month for June and also for the color challenge that she so nicely gave everyone who entered a prize - thanks so much Pam!

New products

Have you seen all of the beautiful new products that the companies are releasing for the summer CHA, such as Prima, Bo Bunny, Crate Paper, just to name a few. I think that Prima has out done themselves with all of their gorgeous new flowers they have this time. I soooo need to win the lottery so I could just go and buy one of everything! Any rich person want to adopt me? LOL

We had a color and sketch challenge at My Creative Scrapbook for July and this was my entry for it. My daughter had taken my grandchildren with her to the off leash beach that she takes her dogs to for a swim and play time with the other dogs. They love spending time with their favorite Auntie. Mikayla just looked so young and carefree in these photos. It would be great to be that age again!

Well I hope everyone is off to a beautiful sunny work week, TFL!

Winner!!

I'm so excited...I was checking out all the posts at "My Creative Scrapbook" and found out that my layout of my grandson bouncing on the trampoline won the June Sketch Challenge! You can see my layout in my June 17th post. All of the ladies in this group are so talented, so for my layout to be picked is a great honor for me. On top of that I get to look forward to getting a prize for this in my mail...Whohoo, something other than bills! LOL

I hope everyone is having a great day enjoying the sunshine!

New scrap pages

This first page was a picture that my sister took when we were having a BBQ with my sister and husband and my son and grandchildren. I still can't get over that my son is 30 now and has two little ones himself. I'm so proud of my son and all that he has accomplished in his life and for giving me two of the cutest grandchildren ever (I'm not biased at all, lol).

This next page is one I did with a couple of pictures my DH took of some Bison at a farm about 25 klm's from us. You can see how they are shedding their big winter coats and the baby is so cute.

MIA

Being having a big relapse with my MS since the attack in June. I was good for about a week after that and then the following week I started having smaller attacks during the day and then on July 2nd I started to feel all light headed, as if I had one to many drinks or something and then I couldn't think of words I was trying to say and was having a difficult time talking. I ended up spending about 4 hours in emergency as they though I was having a stroke. All the test came back fine and by the time they got the reslts to me I was talking all normal again, and just felt really weak so they decided I should see my Neurologist at the MS Clinic. On Saturday July 3rd it happened again in the late afternoon and I was talking all stupid again and couldn't talk well, everyone thought I had been drinking that one lasted quite long into the evening so I ended up flying out on Monday, July 5th to Vancouver. Turns out after seeing my Neurologist that my MS was attacking my brain stem which is why I looked and acted like I was having a stroke. Now it is just a wait and see thing and hopefully it will clear up on it's own. Otherwise they will have to give me a round of intravenous steroids to help clear up all the inflammation in my spinal cord that attacks everything.

I seem to be not doing to bad the last couple of days, at least my head has felt clearer which is good as that part was really hard to deal with. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have managed to do a couple of scrap pages through out all of this so I hope to get those posted but I seem to be having a problem with my blog and doing new posts which I hope gets fixed soon. Take care all!

Another layout

Wow, I am feeling so much better today that I actually managed to do another layout this evening. This is also another layout for the color challenge over at MCS. TFL and have a great evening!

Slow mode

Had a little bit of a scare on Sunday night with my MS. It started acting up in the evening after working on a scrap page. I decided to go off to bed and then woke about about a half hour later being unable to move my legs at all and the top half of my body wasn't working to well either and hands hardly moved and then had vertigo on top of all of this. I've been very lucky with my MS over the years that it has been very slow progressing and this was the first time I have had so many things shut down at the same time. It was a bit scary. I did finally manage to get back to sleep about 5am and by the time my DH got up for work most of it returned to normal. So I was moving pretty slow yesterday and slept most of the day. Today I am so much better and am breathing a sigh of relief that it was almost back to normal. Or as normal as I can be, lol.

I did manage to get a couple of scrap pages done since the last post. The first one here is my daughters silly dog wanting the rabbit to play with him while he was in his outdoor pen. We had a challenge at MCS to use our handmade flowers on a page so this was my entry. I made all of the flowers except for the one just under the "Y" which is of course a Prima flower.

This next one was for a color challenge at MCS. We had to use rust, blue, yellow/gold and white. I don't have to much white in the layout but there is some. My son coaches my grandson's baseball team and they won their tournament that they had on Fathers Day weekend. My granddson was so excited to phone me and tell me this. Way to go Scott!

Busy week...

I got home from the mainland on Monday and all of a sudden it's Thursday evening, where did the days go to? It was raining here when I got home but since Tuesday the weather has been beautiful, warm and sunny - it's about time that summer showed up, lol.

I don't know about the rest of the sahm's and retirees but my week goes by my dh's work week and when he takes a holiday day in the middle of everything it totally confuses me (not that it takes much, lol). Yesterday at work they were really slow so he decided to leave work and use up some of his holiday hours to cover the day. So here he was back home at 10am, which totally screws up my day as I now have to work around him and what ever he is doing. One good thing was he got the lawn all mowed. I managed to get most of my housework done while he was doing that so that was good. We ended up wandering over to our neighborhood pub around the corner in the late afternoon and grabbed a bite to eat and visited with friends that we see there. It was just so nice to be able to sit out on the patio and soak up some vitamin D from the sun. Funny how everyone is always in such a good mood when the sun is shining.

Today after finishing off my house chores I was able to get out in the yard and weed eat and started cutting back branches from one of our fruit trees. It kind of hangs over the big sand box that we have in the yard (from the previous owners) so I thought it would be nice if the grand kids could actually play in it without get branches in their faces and possibly poking their eye out, lol. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be sunny again so I can get that all finished up before the next dump of rain.

Between getting unpacked and taking care of house chores I did manage to get one layout done.
Over at My Creative Scrapbook they had a great sketch for June and when I saw it I knew it would be perfect for these pictures I took of my grandson while I was on the mainland. Scott was jumping on the trampoline and trying to master the bum drop (when you land on your bum and then try to get back onto your feet without falling over). He was so cute when he finally managed to do it he just lifted his arms up in the air and gave himself a big cheer. So here is my take on the sketch. TFL and hope everyone has a great weekend!

Still on the mainland...

It's Wednesday evening and all is well. My daughter's surgery went well, meaning they didn't find anything bad (which is good), but now they still don't know what is giving her all the pain. So I guess the next step will be to another type of specialist. Hopefully they get this all figured out soon. She's not feeling to bad but still moving a little slow as she has a sore tummy now from the surgery.

While I was off doing errands today for her I stopped in at a little craft store that is in Steveston (not that you would know where that is unless your from the Vancouver, BC area). They had a small section of scrapbooking goodies and I found some awesome papers from Graphics 45. I just love their papers with the old nostalgic look. I have some great old family photo's that will look awesome with these papers so I can't wait to get home and play with them.

Well I think I shall head off to bed now. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

10K

I'm heading off to the mainland again this afternoon. My daughter is having some surgery n Tuesday so of course I'm a typical Mum getting all nervous for her. Surgery is is a very simple one but you know how us mothers all get, lol. So I will spending time down there taking care of her and making sure she's all good before I leave and come back home.

I managed to get another layout done yesterday. This is a picture of my son(in the blue hat) and one of his friends at the annual Vancouver Sun Run, a 10 klm marathon. He's never been into running and this was his first time ever doing a marathon (with no training for it). There were over 50,000 people this year and he in came in 20,412 and did it in 1 hour and 13 minutes. Of course it helped that there was a pretty girl to impress, lol. I was very proud of him for doing this.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and TFL!

Sunshine - Yeah!!

Wow - two whole days in a row with sunshine! And today I was actually able to go out with no jacket...the little things that excite me, lol. Apparently we are going into a week of nice weather, it's about time.

I did manage to get one of my pictures from our camping trip on Quadra Island finished today. This is of a sunset we had on one of the sunny days we had while camping. Our site was right on the beach so this was taken from the little deck we had off of our trailer we rented.

We had a challenge over at My Creative Scrapbook to do a layout by making our own patterned paper. This didn't quite come out like I envisioned but I guess you can't learn if you don't try. I took some of my paints in different shades of pinks and purples to pick up the colors of the sunset. Since this was taken at the ocean beach I used one of my stamps that kind of reminded me of plants floating on the ocean floor and the small round things looked like shells and stamped in two of the corners. In the same set of stamps I had one of just the shell looking thingy and stamped that over the paper and then finished off with spraying pink glimmer mist over the page.

June already?

Well you'd never know it was June by our weather..it's crazy, I feel more like it's September what with all the rain and cooler temperatures we've been having. I think this is the first time I've not had a tan in June already.

We did manage to go camping last week though, mind you we only had one sunny day out of the five days. Luckily we were not in a tent. We rented a trailer. Normally we would have taken our camper but there was a bit of a mishap while trying to load it onto the truck - we won't even get into that story! We did have fun in spite of everything. Friends of the family kind of have a big family reunion camping trip every May, which over the years has kind of turned into family and friends of family camping trip. Since we moved from the mainland to Vancouver Island five years ago we have been going as the place they all go is only a 15 minute ferry ride from us. The rain managed to hold off for the most part until after we all headed off to bed so we were still able to sit around the campfire, having cocktails, smores (just isn't camping unless you make smores) and talking. I was quite happy though to get home to my own bed and a proper shower. Now I have pictures to download from the trip and start scrapping them.

I hope everyone has been having a good week and better weather than what we've been having, take care!

Windows to the soul

I've been having fun making this wall hanging for my daughter. This is another picture of my daughter that her friend took, I thought it was kind of cool and needed a special layout. I just picked up a cheap canvas frame from the dollar store and cut out my papers and then used modge podge on them before I added everything. I painted the scroll frame that I cut out of thin card board with Distress crackle painted and then inked with distress ink. It's kind of hard to see the crackle effect in this picture. Inside the ornate frame (which is from Tim Holtz) it says "The eyes are the windows to the soul." The dangly (is that a word?) things are from a pair of earrings from the dollar store that I took apart and then inked with Rangers ink. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Where did the time go?

Wow, Thursday already, I can't believe it. How come when your a kid the days just drag by and then when you become 21 they fly by so quick and suddenly you realize you've become your parents, lol! Oh well not much we can do I guess. I've been busy trying to get the rest of my gardens weeded before the weather decided to change and rain. Which I actually managed to do, well sort of - I have one more to do but it's one the previous owners put in and its a major disaster, I hate working on it. I think I'm going to end up ripping everything out and start again from scratch one of these days.

This weekend is a long weekend here in Canada, Queen Victoria's birthday. This is usually the first weekend everyone likes to get out and go camping for the first time of the year. The weather doesn't look so great for the next few days, so that won't be to good for some of the die hard campers. Luckily we're not going camping until Wednesday of next week and it looks like it might get nicer by then (she says keeping her fingers crossed).

I did managed to get a little bit of time in to scrap, below is my most recent page that I finished this afternoon. These are my daughters two silly dogs napping on the couch after a hard day of doing dog stuff...eating, chewing things they shouldn't, beating each other up - you know the usual dog stuff, lol.

TFL and have a great evening!

More gardening...

It was nice and sunny and warm this morning so I was able to get back out in the garden and get two more flower beds weeded. Now there's kind of a high cloud cover so it's feeling a bit muggy. But that's better than having it rain is all I can say, lol. The rest of the afternoon I managed to get this new scrapbook page done of my grand daughter and her very bright new blue running shoes. Apparently she's been wanting a pair of these shoes for over a year. She received a lot of money from family for her birthday so she was very excited when I asked her if she wanted to go to the mall and pick them up. The paper I found to use went perfect with the color of her shoes. I popped the smaller picture of her up with foam and also used my new Martha Stewart punch to do the lace edge on the brown and blue paper. The flowers and the felt fusion swirl are from Prima - I love these Prima flowers.

Thanks for looking and have a great evening!

Mothers Day Flowers

My daughter gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for Mothers Day so of course I just had to take a picture to scrap. We also had a color challenge at My Creative Scrapbook. We had to use Pink, Green, Yellow and White. The papers I used are from Basic Grey - I just love this Porcelain line of paper. The title was made with my Cricut machine using the Jasmine cartridge and taking it into Cricut Design Studio and welded the letters together. I cut out one of the bird cages from the Basic Grey paper and popped it up with foam and then used pink embroidery thread to make the chain. I also made my own flourish transparency printed out on my computer. And of course the pretty flowers are from Prima, who else!

Speaking of Prima, I got a nice surprise yesterday at My Creative Scrapbook. We had a favorite color challenge and all who entered names got put into a hat and they pulled a name yesterday and I won! I am so excited as the prize was a great goody bag full of Prima - now I have something to look forward to in my mail other than just bills, lol.

Here's my scrap page, thanks for looking and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

May Sketch Challenge

This months sketch challenge by Julie Bonner at My Creative Scrapbook just seemed to fit perfect with a photo I was wanting to scrap.I already had my background page picked out but wasn't quite sure what else I was going to do with it so when I saw the sketch I was quite happy!

I have had this background paper for ages and never seemed to have quite the right picture for it. I'm one of those scrappers that see a pretty paper and have to buy it - even though I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, lol. I really do have to stop doing that but I'm sure there are a lot of you out there that do the exact same thing.

Below is my version of the sketch. If you notice one side of my layout is not scalloped. The reason for this is that my page protectors in my scrapbook are not quite 12 inches wide so I keep having to cut about a ¼ " off of my layouts so they fit. Believe me, it is very annoying! I should have taken my picture before I cut the one side off but unfortunately I didn't - what can you do!
Anyway back to my layout..I've used some pretty Prima flowers that I just purchased while visiting my kids. I used stickles glitter for my flourishes.

My sister gave me this cute little garden peeker for Christmas and I've been waiting for our weather to get better so I could put him up on my pear tree. finally last week the weather started to get so much better so I finally got to put him up. Isn't he just the cutest little guy?

I'm off to bed now but I hope everyone had a good evening.

Home again...

I had a great visit with the kids and grandchildren but it's good to be home again and get to sleep in my own bed tonight. My appointment at the MS Clinic didn't go to bad, just getting confirmation from my Neurologist about problems I already knew I had, lol. I'm always reminded when I go to the MS Clinic how lucky I am with the progression of this crazy disease compared to other patients I see there who are so much worse than me. Well I think I'm off to bed now. I hope everyone has a good week!
