Summer Fun

My grand kids come up & visit with us every summer for about 3 weeks so we always spend lots of time at the lake. Last summer my friend and her grand kids came with us to the lake and they were showing my grandson how to do the skim boarding. It didn't take to long for my grandson to catch on to how you do it. I just managed to take this photo at the right moment to catch him looking like a pro landing on the board in the water.....of course it doesn't show the wipe out 10 seconds later, lol.

I used the Heartfelt Creations "Under the Sea" paper collection for this layout. I distressed and inked all the papers and added a bit of cheesecloth behind the papers. I used the Heartfelt Creations "Open Vintage Floret" pre-cut stamp and die set to make the two flowers on this layout. I added a few other goodies from my stash and called it done. TFL!

Another Beachy Layout

Although the photo isn't taken on the beach it is a photo taken of my granddaughter & I when we were in Hawaii back in January. I don't know if anyone has heard of "Couture Creations", I hadn't until just recently, the papers used for this layout is from their "Sea Breeze" collection. The papers are all gorgeous, as soon as I saw them it was love at first sight, lol. My layout is a bit of a lift of someone's sketch but I can't remember who's sketch. If anyone knows let me know so I can give credit to them for it. All of the papers used are from this collection except the pink arrows. Shells and netting are from my stash. I distressed and  inked all of the papers. TFL!

Father & Son

Another photo from our Hawaii trip back in January 2016.This is my son and his Dad taken on one of the beach's on the North side of Oahu in Hawaii.I used the Heartfelt Creations "Under the Sea" paper collection for this layout.  I distressed and inked all of my papers as well as adding a couple of fish that I fussy cut from the papers and popped up with foam dots. I used the Heartfelt Creations "Open Vintage Floret" pre-cut stamp and die set to make the two flowers on this layout. A few shells from my stash were added to the layout and I called it done.  TFL!

Sand Dollars

Here I am with another photo from back in 2006. This photo is of my grandson when we were at the beach one day here in Campbell River. While the kids were playing on the beach they found a big bed of Sand Dollars. We told the kids what they were and it seems Scott thought that they were real $'s. He would go and collect a handful of them and put them in his bucket. I'd tell him that he couldn't take them home, that they were actually alive so it wouldn't be fair to do that to the Sand Dollars. So he'd dump out his bucket then just go get another handful of them. It went on for quite awhile, I finally was able to get him to leave the live ones alone when I found a couple of ones that had already died and he was able to take those ones home. So this photo  is of Scott showing off his Sand Dollars.

I used the Heartfelt "Under the Sea" paper collection for this layout. I used three different papers from the collection to layer underneath the photo. I distressed and inked all of the papers I used. I did a lot of fussy cutting of the fish and turtle from the paper collection which I popped up with foam dots for a 3D look. I also cut out the port hole window from a duplicate paper of the background paper and popped that up with foam dots. I added some fish net to the bottom right corner of the layout which I glued on some shells from our beaches around where we live. I also added some string from my stash that has the little yellow ties on it that I laid out on the fish net. I added a few Prima flowers along with some other shells, a small sand dollar and a scallop shell. I also cut out the seagulls on my Cricut machine using an SVG file I made and popped them up with foam dots also.

Waves

I love this photo I took of the waves in Hawaii crashing up against the rocks on the North side of the island. I used the same "Coastal Escapes" papers along with the one with the fish on it from my stash. I added a couple of dollies, along with a starfish and small sand dollar from our beaches here in Campbell River. A few things from my stash including the pearl flourish which kind of mimics the ocean crashing against the rocks. It's a fairly simple layout but I was still happy with how it turned out. TFL!

Hawaii #2

Okay I'm on a role now with our Hawaii photos. This photo is of my son and granddaughter taken on Waikiki beach on our first full day in Hawaii. The Kaisercraft "Coastal Escapes" paper collection are perfect for the Hawaii photos.

I have distressed and inked all of the papers on this layout. The only paper that is  not from this Kaisercraft collection is the paper with the fish. This was some left overs in my stash and it goes perfectly. I cut three of the papers into banners and then one rectangle shaped. I added bits of lace to different areas, shells from the beach's here in Campbell River, Prima flowers, text strips from the paper collection and a small metal palm tree embellishment from my stash. I'm quite pleased the way the layout turned out.

Looking back

While going through a bunch of older photos I came across this photo of myself and my grandchildren at the beach here in Campbell River back in June of 2006. I can't believe how little they were, they're now 17 and 13, where did the years go?

I used the Kaisercraft "Coastal Escapes" collection for this  layout. It's a very simple layout with not much layering but I kind of wanted the layout to be more about the photo. I used the Coastal Escapes "Sea Grass" paper for my background paper and did some distressing and inking on it. I matted the photo on some navy blue cardstock and added some foam tape to pop the photo up. I picked the Coastal Escapes "Underwater" paper for the 2 layers under the photo and used the shells and beach sign from the sticker sheet. I added a few shells from the beach and a small sand dollar. The string is some I had in my stash that I always feel goes well on a beach layout and found the small gold button in my stash with an anchor on it to use at the top of the layered paper. I also added the "Memories" chippy which I painted white then sprayed it with a blue mist from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Here's the finished layout, TFL!

Hawaii

Well finally my first layout of our trip to Hawaii this past January. I used the Kaisercraft "Coastal Escape" collection. This paper collection is absolutely perfect for scrapping photos taken at the beach! This photo is of my grand kids, daughter-in-law and myself taken on our first full day in Hawaii. I used the blue side of the "Coral" paper from this collection. for my background! The sayings and embellishment sticker sheet from this paper collection were perfect for this layout. I used some seam binding from my stash which I sprayed with Lindy's blue mist to match up with my layout. I used an actual starfish for the layout and flowers from my stash.

Elk Falls

Back in February here in Campbell River, BC Hydro  was letting out 200% more water through the dam and the falls than usual. The Elk falls are amazing at anytime but to see so much power being let out through the falls is just amazing. My husband and I went to the falls back in February to see this and it was totally amazing to just watch this raw power going over the falls. I really wanted to make this layout of the photos fairly simple, yet still see the power of the falls. I was going to try and paint the falls but I'm really not artistic in that way. Then my friend Peggy over at Swirlydoos did a layout to show a beach theme using netting etc to work as the ocean/beach, and I thought what a great idea so I lifted it for my layout using cheese cloth to act as the falls. I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out, not a lot of embellishments, but enough to show the power of the falls.

Meeting Friends

Every year in May I have to go down to the mainland (Vancouver, BC, Canada) to see my neurologist at the MS Clinic for my yearly check up. I was the supervisor of the accounts payable department for a multi national chemical company in Richmond (suburb of Vancouver, BC) and I've been on disability from work with my MS since June 1997. When we still lived on the mainland I was able to get together with all the girls from work quite often. Since we moved to Vancouver Island 10 years ago I really don't see any of them. So last year we all got together for lunch while I was down, we had such a great visit. All of us but one girl are retired now so it was great to see them all and get caught up on all the news. I am headed down to the mainland this week so we are all getting together for lunch again, a couple of other girls we worked with are going to be coming along too so it should be a good time. Anyways, here is a layout I did of the lunch we had last year, as you can see I'm getting a little bit braver doing my drips. Click on the layout to see a larger view.

Family Time

I love this photo of my son and grandson taken back in April of this year. I just new I wanted to scrap it! I used quite a few layers, using the banners and rectangles and of course distressing. I used some blue and wine colored small flowers, the wine colored ones bring out the wine color in the papers. I'm also trying to use more misting and inking on my layouts. I love how the design team ladies at Swirlydoos use the mists and dripping, so I'm doing it in baby steps as I always worry that I'll ruin the layout, lol. So here's the layout, click on it to see a larger photo. I'd love to hear your comments!

Round Robin Layout

I joined in on the May Round Robin over at Swirlydoos. As Mother's Day is in May the Round Robin was all about Mothers, your Grandma, your Mother, you, Mother's of Fur babies, you get the picture. There was 3 teams, 4 people in each team and the idea is to lift the layout of the person in front of you. Of course there has to be some twists in the challenge to make it more interesting, here are the twists.
One extra point awarded for each of the following:
1. It would be great if you are in the photo (with your mother or as the “mother” with your “child”).
2. How about some distressing? Dry or wet(use those happy tears from remembering while going thru your photos to your advantage).
3. Flowers, bling, chipboard or metals. Let’s do some spring cleaning of these embellishment. Since it’s Spring, the more flowers, the merrier. You know FLOWERS and BLING are a must for Mother’s Day!!!
4. Remember, it’s still spring so let’s keep the colors light, bright and cheerful.

So here's my layout for the May RR over at Swirlydoos, for team 1, week 2. Thanks for the great layout to lift Peggy! This is my daughter and I way back in April 1991, she was almost 2 months premature and was so tiny, she only weighed 4lbs when I got to bring her home. This photo was taken when she was 4 days old, my little miracle.

I'd love to hear your comments! TFL

OTP Project

Well my family got some good news this past couple of weeks. My son and his girlfriend bought their first house (which believe me is not any easy thing if you live in Vancouver, BC with the crazy prices) and they took possession on June 1st and my son had it all set up to propose to her when they walked into their new home. He had their 4 kids to make up poster board signs with each one completed the words "WILL YOU MARRY ME" and his real estate agent put them up for him so Angela would see them when she walked in. He also gave his real estate agent rose petals which he laid out in the shape of a heart, as she read the posters Chris walked her into the heart then knelt down on one knee and proposed. My son had told me about what he was going to do so I couldn't wait to hear from him, he finally sent me a text saying "She said Yes!!"  It just brought tears to my eyes!

Anyways I had seen this quote on Pinterest and it just fit this situation so I made a plaque for them to hang out in their new home. The quote is "May your home be a place where friends meet, family gathers & Love grows!"

I picked up this plaque at the local Dollar store and painted it white. Once it dried I glued lace all over it with Mod Podge then used some pink and blue Lindey's Stamp Gang inks over it here and there. I then dug through my flower stash and pulled out all my pink and blue flowers. I had some pretty white Prima flowers from their French Riviera collection. I just wanted them to have a touch of pink on the petals so I stamped some of my pink ink pad on my craft mat and spritzed it with water and took a fine point paint brush and just brushed the edges of the petals. I quite liked the way they turned out. I also added a bow with some seam binding that I had dyed and a pretty blue butterfly stick pin that I handmade. I printed out the quote on transparency film and trimmed it as close as could to the words and glued them onto the plaque. On the right hand side of the plaque I added part of a Prima vine and a small key with a heart that said Love.  I hope you like the end result. Click on the picture to see a larger view.
Here are a couple of close ups.

Sweet Boy

I'm sharing another layout of our new grand baby Liam. As soon as I saw this photo of him in his new hat I knew I had to scrap it, he's just so darn cute in the hat, lol. I used the October 2015 Swirlydoos kit "Garden Harvest" kit for this layout. The papers in this kit are from Blue Fern Studios "Autumn Anthology" collection. I really like the Blue Fern Studios papers because they are so nice and thick, which are great for distressing. I did a lot of distressing of all the papers, some fussy cutting and popping up the photos and fussy cut pieces with foam pop dots. I added bits of lace to some of the distressed bits of paper. So here's my layout, TFL and I'd love to hear your comments!

April 2016 Swirlydoos Sketch

The sketch above is the April 2016 Sketch for the Swirlydoos "Purple Haze" kit.  I didn't get the April 2016 kit from Swirlydoos but decided to play along using the March 2016 "Peggy's Bicycle" kit. I am absolutely in love with the papers from the Prima "Tales of You & Me" collection, the papers are just so beautiful!

So this is my take on the sketch with photos of our daughter and grand baby taken in February.
Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to hear your comments!

Baby Liam

Well as I said yesterday, you'll be seeing lots of Liam layouts, lol. This photo was taken in February when Liam was just 2 months old. This layout was my entry to Swirlydoos February 2016 Round Robin for team 1, week 4.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

New Grandbaby!

Nothing is more exciting than bringing a new baby into the world. Back in December, December 2nd to be exact, we welcomed our new grandbaby, Liam, into the world. He was a big baby, 9lbs 4oz and he's such a cutie! So be prepared you'll be seeing a lot of layouts of Liam!

This first layout is of our daughter and Liam when he was just a few hours old. I used the Swirlydoos January 2015 "Bejeweled" kit for this layout, the papers in this kit are just beautiful.
This next layout is of a photo taken Christmas Day, don't you just love how adorable babies are when they're sleeping! I used the Swirlydoos "Bejeweled" kit for this layout also.
Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to hear your comments.

Aloha

Wow, it's already May, where did the time go to? Apparently I'm really bad at keeping my blog up to date since the last time I updated was back in January. Okay so back in January I went to Hawaii with my son and his family. We had so much fun! So I wanted to share this layout I did on all of us the day we were leaving. The one photo is of my grand daughter and grandson doing their version of the hula, lol. The other photo is of all of use in front of the limo my son hired to drive us to the airport. The kids had never been in a limo before so they were pretty excited. Anyways here is my layout, now all I have to do is get busy scrapping all of the other hundred photos I took when we were in Hawaii, lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Coming Back Slowly!

Apparently my scrapping slump also affected keeping my blog up to date. I haven't posted anything since October, that's crazy! I can't even believe that tomorrow will be February 1st, where did the time go to?

Well I think my scrapping mojo has decided to return home, maybe when it went on vacation it went to Hawaii and when I was in Hawaii at the beginning of January it saw me and decided to hitch a ride home, lol. This first layout is a photo of my grandson wearing every hat he owns at one time, he is a crazy kid for sure, hence the title, lol.

Something a little different

Well I've had absolutely no scrapping mojo for almost 2 months now, that and having problems with leg pains so I've not been able to sit for long periods of time on my hard chairs in my scrapbook room. So since my dh's daughter & her husband are having their first baby at the end of November I decided to crochet a baby blanket for her, which turned out to be the blanket, then a hat, baby booties, and a sweater, plus a plain blue pair of booties. So I thought I'd post them here to show them off. Thanks for looking!
