M.I.A.

Okay so I kind of disappeared  for a number of days. I went down last week to the mainland to help my daughter out after some surgery she had done. It's so hard to watch your kids, no matter what age, when they are in pain. But she seems to be doing good now, so I came home this morning. I love seeing the kids but I'm happy to be sleeping in my own bed tonight.

I had another layout completed but didn't get it posted before I left. This is another photo of my daughter that her friend took. You are all going to be bored at me scrapping all these photos...what can I say, I just love the photos, lol! I used some more of Websters Hollywood Vogue collection for this layout, the papers are perfect for these photos! I used the die cut from this collection for my background paper. I did some fussy cutting from some of the other papers in this line which I popped up with foam dots. The flowers, of course, are from Prima - don't you just love the tiny rosebuds? The leaves are from Lisa at Swirlydoos which I made into an SVG file so I could cut it with my cricut machine using the "Make The Cut" program. The butterflies are also from Lisa which I printed and cut out and then added some glossy accents to, to give them a nice glossy sheen. I also used one of Prima's clear stamps  to stamp on the  right side of the photo. On the left side I've added some Tim Holtz negative film tape. I really like the way it turned out. Well I hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Birthday cards

Well today is my granddaughters 13th birthday - Wow I can't believe I have a granddaughter that age, man I'm getting old. I have to keep reminding myself that my son and daughter are 11 years difference in age so since my son's 32 of course I can be a Gramma to a 13 year old, lol. It's also my daughters 21st birthday on April 8th so these are both important birthdays for the girls. My granddaughter is now officially a teenager and my daughter is now a legal adult world wide. Our drinking age in Canada is 19 years old, so she's been legal here for a few years but now she can do that anywhere. It might be kind of fun for her and I to go to Las Vegas now that she can legally gamble there, lol.

Anyways I've been busy  making birthday cards for them both and I was quite happy that I had my Websters new papers to do this with. My first card was my take on my friend Paulien Van Denbosch's tutorial from the Feb 14th sketch at Swirlydoos. I'm really quite pleased at how it turned out. I didn't have a flourish to use so I made my own using some purple stickles that I had. So here's how it turned out.

The one that I made for my daughter is using the same Websters Hollywood Vogue collection and is  my own design. I took some of my ink and inked up one of  my white doilies with it to match up. The butterfly is one that Lisa at Swirlydoos had given to us which I took into my PSP program and colorized it from the blue that it was to a nice shade of mauve to match up with the papers also. After it dried from the inking I covered it with a thick coat of glossy accents to give it a nice shiny glass look to it and used a pearl strand that I had to use as my butterflies flight path. I did a little bit of fussy cutting of the roses on the negative strip of paper and then added a cream and mauve flower that I made using some Prima hydrangea petal that I had sprayed and twisted and let dry and put them together and of course two pretty tiny Prima mauve roses were added with that flower. Here's how this one turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope everyone's week is going great!
