March sketch contest at My Creative Scrapbook

Another sketch contest underway at My Creative Scrapbook on their sketch blog. The sketch is another great one from Kim Keane. I got my order from Websters the other day so I've been dying to get in there and make something and this sketch was just perfect and with the photo I wanted to use the "Hollywood Vogue" collection went perfect with it! I love the light mauve color on the background paper "Shine a Light" that I used.

I had some mauve hydrangea petals in my stash so I went about spraying them with water and then twisting the petals and let them dry. Once they were dry I layered the different size petals together to make my flowers. I love this look, I think it looks so much prettier than just plain old petals laying flat. The cream hydrangea petals I had in my stash also and the edges of them had a mauve color to them so I did the same thing with a couple of those. I also had the little teal rose buds in my stash and the other couple of teal ones which added a nice touch to my flower cluster. Of course I couldn't resist adding one of my peacock feathers to the layout and of course a pretty Prima flourish. I cut one of the little pearl butterflies from the flourish and added it up by the left top corner of the photo. Well actually I did that to two of the butterflies from the flourish but I had already taken the photo of the layout and was to lazy to take another one - I know bad girl, lol. I also had the pretty purple glitter letters in my stash so I used them for my title. I dyed my two white paper doilies with some teal ink that I had which I think looked good against the darker teal paper that I layered them on. I was quite happy at how it turned out. So here's the finished layout, hope you like it! TFL
